Greg Thompson
September 16, 1951 - September 19, 2024

Greg C. Thompson September 16, 1951 - September 19, 2024 Greg C. Thompson, 73, passed away at his home in West Valley City, Utah on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long battle with his health. He was born on September 16th, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to Arthur "Art" W. Thompson and Gwen Hobbs Thompson. He attended Bonneville High School and graduated in 1969. He married Diana Brady on March 3rd,1972 whom he had two wonderful sons with. They later divorced. Greg found love again and married Jeani B Wright on November 16th, 2011. Greg had many different jobs throughout the years ranging from working at Wonder Bread, Pepsi-Cola, and as a Deputy in the Weber County Sherriff's Office in the Jeep Patrol Search & Rescue. Later, his love and passion of technology took him on the journey of doing what he truly loved, which was working in the computer industry. These jobs included working at Armadillo Bros., Computer Consultants Corp., and at FIS as a Programmer using Visual Basic where he retired in December 2018. He played guitar and bass guitar in bands while growing up, which helped foster his love for all music. Greg loved going on adventures with his children when they were young, such as rock crawling in Moab, sleeping under the stars on the rocks in Zion, and camping trips to Yellowstone national park. Later in life, Greg loved nothing more than going on camping trips with all his grandchildren and truly cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Jeani Thompson, his sons, Jason Thompson (Kerri) and Brian Thompson (Kelly). He also leaves behind his stepchildren that he loved and claimed as his own, Jeremy Wright (Alexandra) and Jillian Wright, as well as his sister-in-law, Jayne Thompson. Greg couldn't have been happier or prouder to be a grandfather to ten beautiful grandchildren that he loved more than anything: Cheyenne, Scout, Parker, Autumn, Khloe, Marcus, Jett, Sienna, Rosalie, and Nikolas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur "Art" W. Thompson and Gwen Hobbs Thompson and his older brother, Donald Thompson. Greg was sometimes seen as an ole grump, but he would gladly give the shirt off his back for someone in need. He proudly and loudly told you what he thought and how he felt, especially when it came to his kids and grandkids. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Greg's memory on September 29th,2024 from 2-5 pm at 5549 South 400 West Ogden, UT 84405. To allow all friends and family to gather and remember the joy Greg brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, Greg would be honored for any donations to go to the restoration of old steam trains, which were a life long passion for him. https://cumbrestoltec.com/about-us-2/restoration-projects/
