Jerilyn Gayle Odekirk Ewing

 Jerilyn Gayle Odekirk Ewing
September 18, 1951 ~ January 4, 2018

On the evening of January 4, 2018 our dearest Jerilyn Gayle Odekirk Ewing passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her. Jerilyn was born on September 18, 1951 in Ogden, Utah to Norman and Gayle Gardener Odekirk. She was the oldest of four siblings and always knew how to look after those she loved. We all knew how much we meant to her, because of the way she treated us. Her arms were full of comfort and they were always open to you when you needed them the most.
As a young woman Jerilyn enjoyed traveling abroad and living in the Azores for two years with her husband Donald Kilgore. Later they moved to California where they had four children together and lived for 12 years. In 1989 Jerilyn moved back to Utah where she has stayed for nearly 30 years. Through the lens of her camera, she has documented many memories and the growth of her wonderful family.
In 1994 Jerilyn married Ted Ewing in the Salt Lake City Temple and they have been hosting family gatherings and holiday parties ever since. Jerilyn’s life’s work has been dedicated to others; especially her family through her thoughtful and cheerful service. She loved sewing, crocheting, and doing things for those she loved. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren and always had treats, presents and fun surprises for each of them. Her smile could warm any heart and her laughter always filled the room.
Jerilyn is survived by her husband Ted Ewing; Scott (Laura) Kilgore, Shannon Lutz, Tiffanie (Klint) Hardy and Jonathan (Kira) Kilgore, as well as Steven (Hesper) Ewing, Todd M. (Dawn) Ewing, Jason (MaryJane) Ewing, and Chad J. (Haydee) Ewing; ten beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her brother Cam Odekirk; and her sister Juli Odekirk Hall. She was welcomed to the other side by her loving parents Norman and Gayle Odekirk and her brother Frank Verl Odekirk. Her legacy of love, light and thoughtful service will forever live in our hearts as we go on to serve those that we love.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
