OGDEN - Mitchell Kirk Dabling, 50, died January 9, 2002 at his home in Ogden, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by family and friends. He was born April 7, 1951 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Dennis Mitchell Dabling and Shirley Renee Odekirk Dabling. He was raised in Washington Terrace. He had one son from a previous marriage. He married Karen Ann Callister on Nov 10, 1995 in Ogden. He was a Veteran of the Viet Nam conflict, serving as a medic in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mitch graduated from Weber State University with a BA in Psychology and Sociology in 1981. He also received his Master of Counseling. He taught at Stevens-Henager College. At the time of his death he was a Clinical Therapist and Program Director at Weber Human Services. He love his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He played the guitar, loved poetry and gardening, and was thrilled to be a grandfather. He liked to read, he made everyone feel important and happier for knowing him. He loved teaching and he enriched all of our lives and will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife, Karen Ann; son, Gabe Dabling of California; three step-children, Brenda Simonsen of Ogden; Jeremy Simonsen of Reno, NV; and Elisha Rae Tooker of Ogden; two beautiful grandchildren, Kaylee and Chelsea. Also surviving are two sisters, Christine Altmix and Dawn Marie Boggs; and one brother, Danny Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Mark Layne Dabling. The family expresses special thanks to family and friends and all who were involved in Mitch's care.
