Kathy Jeanne Schreck was born July 24, 1951 the daughter of E Paul Schreck and Mary Cilensek Schreck. She was raised in Ogden, Utah. Jeanne married Thomas Layne Clarke July 6, 1973, they recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. They are the devoted parents of son, William Layne, and three daughters, Krista Jeanne, Terra Lynn, and Katrina. Her life was truly blessed by her wonderful husband and loving children. She was one of nine siblings W Paul Schreck, Paula Lonneman, Robert Schreck, Richard Schreck, Mary Louise Herzog, Kevin Schreck, Carla George, Tami Pierson and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a select member of a small group of people who have battled cancer many years and lived life to its fullest. We thank Ogden Regional Medical Center and the University of Utah Bone Marrow Transplant Team for its devotion to Jeanne’s care. She joined the hospital staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center in 1983. She worked in the business office, the Cancer Treatment Center and moved within the hospital and was a special help to all those who had the privilege of working with her. As a member of St. Florence Catholic Church, she served in many administrative and spiritual roles. She was a founding member of the Parish, teacher of religious education, and served as Eucharistic Minister.Jeanne was a very special spirit with a joy in her life. She had a unique gift with children and her much loved pets. She was a very creative person who shared her talents with everyone. She brought so many people to God with her love and was very dear to all that knew her, especially her family. Jeanne was very impressed with the compassion, technology and love the St. Benedict Sisters offer to all in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Benedict Sisters. Mount Benedict Priory, 309 E. 5450 S., Ogden, Utah 84405. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ogden Utah.
Jeanne passed away in May of 1999 after many brave years struggling with cancer and a complete bone marrow transplant, all the while showing a LOT OF LOVE for life and her family! Attachment BELOW that Ogden Regional Medical Center wrote about Jeanne. There is actually a plaque hanging in the halls of Ogden Regional that Jeanne wrote. Jeanne worked in the Cancer Center at that hospital during most of her own cancer treatment. I don't know how she did it. She was the most inspirational women and friend since we were 4 years old that I will EVER have the honor of knowing. Jeanne planned her oldest daughter's wedding while lying in a hospital bed knowing she was terminal and would NOT be able to attend the wedding. Two weeks after Jeanne passed her oldest daughter was married.
