SOUTH OGDEN - Army Spec. 4 Richard M (Pete) Facer, 30, son of Milton L. Facer of 3945 Nordin, South Ogden, and Edna M. Fortine of 716 Sapphire Drive, Layton, was killed in action in Vietnam Oct. 31, according to the Defense Department. The department said Specialist Facer died while riding on a military vehicle on a military mission. The details of the incident were not revealed. He was serving with D Battery, 4th Battalion, 60th Artillery. He joined the Army in July 1968. He went to Vietnam last Oct 13.
BORN IN OGDEN
He was born April 24, 1950 in Ogden and received his high school diploma while in the service. Previously, he attended Weber schools and Bountiful High School. He also worked at Hill Air Force Base before enlisting. He was a member of the LDS Church. Besides his mother and father, survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Gary (Patsy) Campbell of Reno, Nev.; Mrs. Roland (Vincie) Burke of Bountiful; Christie Facer and Vickie Facer of Washington Terrace; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Len B. Hooper of 3945 Nordin, South Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wheelwright of 276 E. 4675 S., Riverdale, and Leo Facer of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be announced by the Chapel of Flowers Mortuary.
