Terry Pierce
March 5, 1951 - August 27, 2013

"Always have a smile on your face and a cheerful hello for the people you meet and you will always have a lot of friends.” -Terry Pierce

On August 27th, 2013, Terrell (Terry) Garth Pierce won his last battle with cancer and was promoted and reassigned to a new post to help guard the streets of heaven with his fellow Marines. Terry’s Father, Thomas Garth Pierce, Mother, Beverly Richardson Pierce, best friend and fellow Marine, Paul Meyers, were waiting at the gates of heaven to welcome Terry home. Terry was born on March 5th, 1950 in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1969 and then joined the Marine Corp with his best friend Paul Meyers. After boot camp, Terry married Vaneita Thornock, then left for Viet Nam in September of 1969. When he returned home, they had 2 wonderful boys, John Michael and Brandon Paul together and were later divorced. Terry remained friends with his ex-wife and took Vaneita’s daughter, Amber Close (Jason) Poll, under his wing. Terry later married the love of his life, Terry Lou Cherry, between the 2 of them, they had 5 boys. Terry and Terry were sealed for all time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in 2010. Terry worked at Hill Air Force Base and then became a carpenter for many years. Terry’s skills as a carpenter were a lot like his life; he could build the biggest and most amazing things from anything small and continued to do so until he was called home. Terry Pierce is survived by his wife, Terry Lou Cherry, sisters, Kathy Pierce (Brian) Hansen, Lyn Pierce (Jeff) Shulz, Cindee Pierce (Norm) Stanley, Tami Pierce (Erik) Waller and sons, Mike (Christy) Pierce, Brandon Pierce and Treaver (Toni) Cherry. Terry left his boys; Mike, Brandon and Treaver to stand post for his family. Terry and Terry had 12 grandchildren and many friends that he considered family. The family would like to give special thanks to Access Hospice, Toni Cherry, Candy Heiner and Jamie Weston. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden.
